The Port of Yantian will be temporarily closed due to an outbreak of Coronavirus

The port of Yantian will be temporarily closed due to an outbreak of Coronavirus, the most important port in the South of China will close at 2200hrs on the 25th of May and reopen at 2359hrs on the 27th of May.

The closure, a total of nearly 50 hours which allow the disinfection process to be completed will surely have a short term knock on effect on cargo due to leave Yantian in the coming days and weeks to come, however it remains unknow to what extent.

When the port reopens a 4-day rule will be implemented in an effort to clear existing delays and any back logs incurred as a result of the closure, this means that shippers will not be able to gate In containers any sooner than 4 days prior to ETD. It’s understood this will be rolled out to at least the 3rd of June.
